A significant role in the founding of the club was played by the Lions Club - patron of the city of Ailenburg, club members Gerald Kregel, Thomas Kaminski, Rainer Petch and others, whose ideas as early as 2000 for creating a Lions club in the city of Tiraspol inspired and found a response in Transnistria. Together with like-minded people, the first president of the Lions Club of Tiraspol, Doctor of Sciences, Professor, General Director of the Tiraspol wine and cognac factory "KVINT" Oleg Markovich Baev conducted extensive organizational work for its creation. The joint work contributed to the rapprochement of two peoples and cities - Tiraspol and Ailenburg. During the celebration of the 210th anniversary of the founding of the city of Tiraspol, they became twin cities. This work of the clubs is carried out and continues now in many directions: mutually beneficial cooperation of cities and exchange of delegations, annual delivery of humanitarian aid and gifts to children for New Year and Christmas holidays, organization of treatment and medical assistance abroad for children in need, assistance to the boarding school for hearing-impaired children, providing wheelchairs for the disabled and much more, which fully corresponds to the philosophy and principles of the international Lions movement. However, its main direction became the implementation of the project for the transfer to a new building, reconstruction and technical equipping of the Republican Children's Home in the city of Tiraspol. Thanks to the support of the head of the state administration of Tiraspol Kostyrko V.I. - current president of the Lions Club of Tiraspol, deputies of the city council, it was possible to create and open in October 2004 in the building of the former kindergarten a modern children's institution of European level. This was preceded by the charitable campaign "Children - Home of Our Heart!", in which more than 130 enterprises and organizations participated. A total of 470 thousand rubles were collected. Invaluable assistance was provided by the Lions Club of the city of Ailenburg, whose specialists installed and commissioned two boilers for an autonomous boiler house and donated an "OPEL" car. Tiraspol residents donated children's furniture, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, televisions and much more to the institution free of charge. In May 2006, a swimming pool costing 3,500 euros was put into operation free of charge.
The club's experience in solving many social issues allowed it to support at its meeting in May 2006 the initiative to open in Tiraspol a Home for Veterans for lonely and elderly people. For this, it will be necessary to again unite the efforts of people, participants of the international movement, whose life's work became the motto: "Create, not destroy!". And the work of the Lions Club of the city of Tiraspol continues in this direction today.
The official start of the activities of the Lions Club of Tiraspol is considered to be May 2002, when a delegation of the Lions Club of the city of Ailenburg presented it with the Charter of the International Association of Lions Clubs, the ethical foundations, the charter documents and a welcome letter from the President of the International Association Frank Moore.
